Roeland van Oss
I was born in Nijmegen, Holland but often visited the mountains with my parents whilst growing up. However it was as a teenager that I really discovered the vertical world.
After qualifying as a P.E. Teacher - (Netherlands 1997-2001) I decided to follow my heart and train to become a Mountain Guide. In 2001 I qualified as a climbing instructor for the Dutch Alpine club and also as an Alpine ski teacher (ISIA) in Austria. Between 2001 and 2010 I worked as a ski teacher in Austria (St. Anton) and then in France (Les Deux Alpes).
I now train instructors for the Dutch Alpine Club.
Over the years I've enjoyed exploring the Alps and have climbed many big routes. Including routes on famous faces such as the Eiger, the Droites, the Aig. Verte, Piz Badile and Cime Grande in the Dolomites. I have also climbed on expeditions in the greater ranges including Pakistan, Peru, Russia and most recently in Alaska (Moonflower Buttress). In 2008 I was part of the Dutch expedition to climb K2.
I most enjoy guiding beautiful and challenging routes in the European Alps. "Exceptional routes that are less frequently guided, to show people the real beauty, peace and quiet of this amazing mountain range." I am considered a very patient, skilled and experienced teacher. I would be very pleased to share my enthusiasm and love of mountaineering and skiing with you, and together, I'm sure we can achieve your mountaineering goals.
